Writing

Day 23 of publishing Me Here Without You Now

Well, I got a rejection letter from the publishing company. Here’s what they had to say:

There’s a lot to like, but ultimately we don’t feel that we’d be best-placed to bring the work to market.

Not sure what to think about it. They must have liked bits of it, I guess. Everyone keeps saying that as an author you have to go through so many rejections, that’s it’s really not a big deal and here I am at rejection no. 3 feeling like giving up.

But I know deep down that giving up is not an option. At least not yet. I poured my heart and soul into this book, and I believe that it deserves to be out there in the world. So, I’m going to take this rejection as an opportunity to learn and grow as a writer.

I’ve actually written the first chapter of the prequel Me There With You Before. I’m going to keep trying and look for ways to improve my queries; I know I’m terrible at them but feel like I just can’t explain my story.

One rejection doesn’t mean the end of the road. In fact, it’s just the beginning of a new chapter. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me and my book, and I’m grateful for the experience of putting myself out there and taking a chance.

So to anyone out there who’s feeling discouraged by rejection, know that you’re not alone. Keep pushing forward, keep learning, and keep believing in yourself and your work. Who knows, maybe the next rejection will be the one that leads to success. “Please, no more rejections,” she whispered.

Started at the new school, it’s a lot of work. Going on an exchange in a week with thirteen students. It’s been hard to find the time to write but I’m hoping things will loose up.

Bought the tickets for our trip to Scotland in August, so looking forward to it. Hope to set my new book in that setting, so can’t wait for the inspiration.

Still waiting on Outlander Season 7, started watching Vikings and so far love it.
